Jasmine Kinney

Aiy-yue-kwee, my name is Jasmine Waukela Kinney. I am an enrolled citizen of the Yurok Tribe. I come from the villages of Weych-pues, Erhl-ler-ger and Pectah located at the confluence of the Klamath and Trinity rivers in northern California. While being raised on the Yurok reservation, I was always surrounded by the ocean, mountains, rivers, and redwood forests. My handmade designs are inspired by the beauty of where I come from. Waukela Works and the art that comes out of it is a direct continuation to ancestral knowledge from gathering, to crafting, to communicating, and learning. Waukela Works allows me to express myself creatively while staying connected to my culture. Currently, I am a sophomore studying at Stanford University majoring in Native American Studies with a minor in Psychology. As a young entrepreneur, my contemporary artwork assists me to pay for my college education. I am honored, thankful, and excited that I can share these beautiful works of art with everyone!
